Prayer - pray through her intercession

O Jesus, King of Love, I Trust in Your Merciful Kindness*

O Jesus, King of love, Who inspired in Your servant Yvonne-Aimée a generous participation in Your infinite tenderness for souls, an ardent devotion for the Holy Eucharist and an unwavering fidelity to Your service, grant, we beseech you, that all Your gifts be glorified in her, according us through her intercession the grace, which we seek with confidence, of Your divine and merciful kindness.

O You, who live and reign with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit for ever and ever. So be it.

*History of the Prayer: O Jesus, King of Love, I Trust in Your Merciful Kindness.

It is in 1922 that Yvonne Beauvais (Mother Yvonne-Aimée) was inspired to write this prayer. It spread first in some Augustinian communities and among their patients, then outside.

In 1932, the Bishop of Vannes approved the prayer for his diocese.

The following year, The Sovereign Pontiff, Pius XI, attached an indulgence to the prayer for the Order of Augustinians of the Mercy of Jesus, the patients and care-givers in all the establishments.
This favor was to be extended by Pius XII and on December 6, 1958, John XXIII extended this indulgence to the Universal Church.

Mother Yvonne-Aimée was fond of this invocation to Jesus, King of Love, and she had always in mind to diffuse it. She wrote: “It is tender, so strong, so sorrowful, this short invocation…”
and also:
“The sick like this invocation, they are consoled by it. They like this prayer because they are reminded of the Royalty of Christ Jesus, of His Love, of His Mercy and His Kindness; it compels to some extent our confidence and condenses, by summarizing them, our familiar invocations to the Sacred Heart.”

In 1927, modest bookmarks, on which a Heart appeared as a symbol of the love of the Heart of Jesus, had been printed to support its diffusion.

In 1940, during the war, to make the prayer better known and even better liked, Mother Yvonne-Aimée had the idea of creating a medal and an image for which she designed the model. On December 17, 1940, she presented the first results with these words:
“We have represented Jesus, Child King, so as to attract souls more easily and to give them confidence and hope. We also wanted to recall that it is by His Divine Heart, full of mercy and Love for humanity, that we will obtain peace in the world.“

Today this invocation is diffused spread in various languages throughout the entire world.
